TYSON FOODS RECEIVES TEXAS ENTERPRISE ZONE DESIGNATION
Major Project to Retain Primary Jobs and Upgrade Plant
CENTER, Texas (March 25, 2015) – The Center, Texas, Tyson Foods plant recently was awarded a designation from the State of Texas for participation in the Texas Enterprise Zone. This award will allow Tyson to receive reimbursement on any state sales tax paid on equipment purchased as part of a multi-million dollar capital equipment purchase and maintenance program.
“Tyson contacted us some time ago about partnering with the City to sponsor their application to receive this assistance,” described Center Mayor David Chadwick. “We partnered with them before in this program and we want to help Tyson be successful in Center.”
Tyson agreed to invest up to $5 million and retain 500 jobs of the 1500 currently employed at their plant.
“The City had to nominate them for the program,” Chadwick continued. “This is a simple action on our part yet reflects our priority of continually working with our local industries to assist in their expansion plans.”
