There are four distinct industrial clusters located in Center, Texas, and the surrounding areas.
POULTRY AND FOOD PROCESSING
The poultry and food processing cluster is anchored by the 1,600 employee Tyson Foods Processing Plant in Center. In fact, this facility recently completed a $25 million expansion project adding an additional processing line and creating 200 new jobs.
There are two hatcheries in Center: Tyson Foods and Pilgrim's Pride.
There is one Pilgrim's Pride feed mill in Shelby County and others in the region.
There are approximately 200 independent contract poultry growers in Shelby County alone.

TIMBER AND WOOD PRODUCTS MANUFACTURING
Southeast Texas is the largest timber producing areas in the State. There are thousands of acres of land used to grow and harvest mostly pine trees.
There are a number of lumber mills and pole product mills located in Shelby County and the surrounding areas.
Hallmark-Center Fixture Operations originally chose Center for its home in the 1960's, due to its proximity to timber supply and lumber mills. They have been in continuous operation since.

METAL MANUFACTURING
There are a number of companies in Center who engage in manufacturing products where some component is metal.
Port-A-Cool manufactures portable evaporative cooling units and employs nearly 350 people at its main plant in Center.
General Shelters of Texas and Spartan Structures both manufacture portable buildings.
Steel Building Supply processes and manufactures component parts for the portable building industry.
CEN-TEX Tanks and Dragon Products both manufacture metal fluid tanks for the oilfield industry.
C&R Refrigeration manufactures industrial refrigeration units.
ENERGY/NATURAL GAS
Given its advantageous location in the Heart of the Haynesville Shale, many energy industry service companies have chosen to locate to Center.
Tenaska/TPF Gas Services, National Oilwell Varco, OMNI/EPIC, Bell Supply, McJunkin Redman, KDR, MicroSeismic, Fastenal, Tiger Safety, Exterran, and Wilson Valve have had a presence in Center.
AVIATION
The Center Municipal Airport would make an excellent locaction for a small aviation business to locate. The 5,501 foot long runway is one of the longest in the region and there are sites available for development.
